What is Brinzacom?

Brinzacom is a sterile ophthalmic suspension (eye drops) that combines two glaucoma medicines: brinzolamide, a carbonic anhydrase inhibitor, and brimonidine, an alpha-2 agonist. The two work in different ways to reduce the pressure inside the eye. Each bottle contains 5ml.

What Brinzacom is used for

Brinzolamide and brimonidine eye drops are used to lower raised pressure inside the eye in adults with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. Lowering eye pressure helps protect the optic nerve and your sight. Glaucoma treatment is usually long term, so use your drops every day as prescribed even if your eyes feel fine.

How to use Brinzacom

Use Brinzacom exactly as prescribed by your eye doctor. Shake the bottle well before each use. Wash your hands, tilt your head back, pull down the lower eyelid and put one drop into the affected eye. Do not let the dropper tip touch your eye or any surface. If you use other eye drops, wait at least 5 minutes between them. Remove soft contact lenses before use and wait at least 15 minutes before putting them back in.

Safety information

Do not use Brinzacom if you are allergic to brinzolamide, brimonidine, sulfonamides or any ingredient. It is not for babies and young children. It may cause blurred vision, tiredness or drowsiness, so do not drive or use machines until you feel normal. Common side effects include eye redness, itching, stinging and a bitter taste. Tell your doctor if you have kidney or liver problems, heart disease, low blood pressure or depression, or if you take antidepressants. Keep out of the reach and sight of children.
