What it is
ENCICARB FERRIC CARBOXYMALTOSE INJECTION 100 mg/2 ml contains ferric carboxymaltose, an intravenous iron.
What it is used for
It treats iron deficiency when iron tablets do not work or are not tolerated, or when iron needs to be replaced quickly.
How to use it
It is given as a slow injection or drip by a health worker, who will watch you for at least 30 minutes afterwards. Store it as stated on the pack.
Cautions
Serious allergic reactions can occur, so it is only given where they can be treated. It can lower blood phosphate levels, especially with repeated doses. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant, as it is not normally used in the first three months. Tell our pharmacist about any other medicines you take, and if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
