What it is
Gutt. Neoxon Eye / Ear Drops 10ml contains betamethasone, a corticosteroid that reduces inflammation, with neomycin, an antibiotic.
What it is used for
They treat inflammation of the eye or ear where there is, or may be, a bacterial infection, such as some cases of conjunctivitis and outer ear infection (otitis externa).
How to use it
Use it exactly as prescribed. Wash your hands first. For the eye, pull down the lower eyelid and put the drops in without letting the tip touch the eye. For the ear, lie on your side, put the drops into the ear canal and stay still for a minute. Shake the bottle first if the pack says so.
Cautions
Do not use for longer than prescribed: long use of steroid drops in the eye can raise eye pressure and cause cataract. Do not use in the eye if you have a viral (such as herpes) or fungal eye infection. Do not put it in the ear if the eardrum may be perforated unless a doctor advises. Remove contact lenses before use, and do not share drops. Tell our pharmacist about any other medicines you take, and if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
