What it is
BSV (CARBITEX) CARBETOCIN INJECTION 100 mcg/ml contains carbetocin, an oxytocin-like medicine.
What it is used for
It is given straight after the baby is born, by caesarean or vaginal birth, to help the womb contract and prevent heavy bleeding after childbirth (postpartum haemorrhage).
How to use it
It is given by a doctor or midwife only after the baby has been delivered. Store it as stated on the pack.
Cautions
It is not used to start or speed up labour. Tell the doctor or midwife about heart problems, high blood pressure, epilepsy or asthma.
