What it is
INJ BENZATHINE BENZYLPENICILLIN 2400000 IU contains benzathine benzylpenicillin, a long-acting penicillin antibiotic.
What it is used for
It is used to treat syphilis and some streptococcal throat infections, and as regular injections to stop rheumatic fever from coming back.
How to use it
It is given by a doctor, nurse or trained health worker as a deep injection into a muscle. Store it as stated on the pack.
Cautions
Do not use it if you are allergic to penicillin. The health worker will watch for allergic reactions after the injection. It must never be injected into a vein. Tell our pharmacist about any other medicines you take, and if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
