What is Antila Metoprolol 50mg?

Metoprolol is a cardioselective beta blocker. It slows the heart rate and reduces the force of the heartbeat, which lowers blood pressure and reduces the heart’s need for oxygen.

What Antila Metoprolol 50mg is used for

• High blood pressure (hypertension)
• Angina (chest pain caused by reduced blood flow to the heart)
• Some fast or irregular heart rhythms
• Protection of the heart after a heart attack
• Prevention of migraine, in some patients

How to take Antila Metoprolol 50mg

Take exactly as prescribed by your doctor, at the same time each day. Swallow with water. Do not stop taking metoprolol suddenly, because this can worsen angina or cause a fast heartbeat; your doctor will reduce the dose gradually if it needs to stop.

Safety information

• Do not take if you are allergic to metoprolol or other beta blockers, or if you have a very slow heart rate, certain heart blocks, uncontrolled heart failure, very low blood pressure or severe circulation problems, unless your doctor advises otherwise.
• Tell your doctor if you have asthma or COPD, diabetes (metoprolol can hide signs of low blood sugar), thyroid disease or liver problems.
• Common side effects include tiredness, dizziness, cold hands and feet, a slow pulse and stomach upset.
• Seek medical help for fainting, a very slow heartbeat, wheezing or worsening breathlessness, or swelling of the legs.
• Tell your doctor if you take verapamil, diltiazem, clonidine, other blood pressure medicines, antiarrhythmics, or antidepressants such as fluoxetine or paroxetine.
