What is Vacutro 50mg?

Vacutro combines sacubitril, a neprilysin inhibitor, with valsartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). Together they help relax blood vessels and reduce the strain on the heart. It contains the same active ingredients as Entresto and Uperio.

What Vacutro 50mg is used for

• Adults with symptomatic chronic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction, to reduce the risk of hospital admission and death from heart causes

How to take Vacutro 50mg

Take exactly as prescribed, usually twice a day, with or without food. The 50mg strength is often used as a starting dose, and your doctor may increase it over a few weeks. Do not stop taking it without talking to your doctor.

Safety information

• Do not take with an ACE inhibitor (for example lisinopril or enalapril). An ACE inhibitor must be stopped at least 36 hours before starting Vacutro.
• Do not take if you have had angioedema (swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat), or if you are pregnant. Do not take with aliskiren if you have diabetes.
• Common side effects include low blood pressure, dizziness, high potassium, changes in kidney function and cough.
• Get emergency help for swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, or difficulty breathing.
• Tell your doctor if you take potassium supplements, potassium-sparing diuretics, NSAID painkillers (for example ibuprofen or diclofenac) or lithium.
