What is Uperio 200mg?

Uperio combines sacubitril, a neprilysin inhibitor, with valsartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). Together they help relax blood vessels and reduce the strain on the heart. The same combination is sold by Novartis under the name Entresto in some countries.

What Uperio 200mg is used for

• Adults with symptomatic chronic heart failure with reduced ejection fraction, to reduce the risk of hospital admission and death from heart causes

How to take Uperio 200mg

Take exactly as prescribed, usually twice a day, with or without food. Your doctor will usually start at a lower strength and increase the dose over a few weeks. Do not stop taking it without talking to your doctor.

Safety information

• Do not take with an ACE inhibitor (for example lisinopril or enalapril). An ACE inhibitor must be stopped at least 36 hours before starting Uperio.
• Do not take if you have had angioedema (swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat), or if you are pregnant. Do not take with aliskiren if you have diabetes.
• Common side effects include low blood pressure, dizziness, high potassium, changes in kidney function and cough.
• Get emergency help for swelling of the face, lips, tongue or throat, or difficulty breathing.
• Tell your doctor if you take potassium supplements, potassium-sparing diuretics, NSAID painkillers (for example ibuprofen or diclofenac) or lithium.
